NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 7 preview: See Luke Wade feel the coaches’ love

The Voice -NBC is really wasting no time at all showing off some of their contestants on “The Voice” this season, and that includes a pretty soulful guy in Luke Wade, who you can see perform “That’s How Strong My Love Is” below.

Let’s start things off here with the good things that Luke brings to the table. For one, he is obviously a very good singer, and while there is a little too much vibrato at times, he knows what he is doing on stage. He also has a good look, one that strangely feels like a hybrid of Blake Shelton and a professor at a community college. He gets all four chairs to turn around for him very quickly.

The reaction from the coaches is the most interesting part of this for us, since we really see how the newcomers Pharrell and Gwen Stefani are going to handle this. For Gwen, she makes the compelling argument that she has done this for so long that she has seen everything, and is capable in any situation. Meanwhile, Pharrell argues that he knows what to do with his voice better, and reminds him of the magic that he made in the studio with Robin Thicke. Pharrell is the most noteworthy producer of the bunch, and this is something that really cannot be discounted.

In the end, we would probably go with Pharrell in this case out of the coaches if we were Luke, mostly because we feel like he will understand his style of music the best and can bring him to interesting places. The other coaches also have their own strengths, but we don’t have any confidence that someone like Blake could give him anything other than predictable songs.
