Despite whether or not anyone wanted to hear more of Raign on “The X Factor” this weekend, you are going to have another whole segment devoted to her anyway. On top of that, we would not be shocked if she makes it through to the next round.
The appeal for this particular contestant is simple: She’s memorable, and she presents people with a unified person to hate. We’ve seen the show do this before with Kitty Brucknell and Rylan Clark, but the difference there was that Kitty was actually a great singer, and Rylan, while not exactly the second coming of Sinatra, was a great personality and entertainer. We’re not sure Raign is either of these. Instead, she has some tall tale about how she only discovered a few years ago she could sing, and her voice sounds like a bad Cher tribute act. Also, there is that crazy outfit that she’s wearing, plus an over-abundance of eye makeup.
Who knows? Maybe she gets a cult following, and does something in the future to prove us wrong. We’ve never claimed to be the ultimate judge on who can win this competition. For now, though, we’re going to go out on a limb and hope that Simon Cowell comes to his senses here and does away with her. We already know that Cheryl is not exactly a fan of her, and the cheers from the audience are the main reason why we are somewhat worried at the moment.
What do you think about this audition, and do you think that there is any way we are still talking about Raign and her performances a month from now? Share your thoughts with a comment, and be sure to head over here to see some other “X Factor” previews right now.
