‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: A shocking Big Bad lies ahead

If you like your villains on “The Vampire Diaries” to be someone who you can find a little good in, you may be somewhat disappointed with what is coming during season 6. For the first time, the show really seems to be dipping its toes into someone who is truly so rotten, there may not be a way to ever fully redeem them.

This is something that executive producer Julie Plec touched on during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where she also did her part to explain just what this person will bring to the table:

“There is a villain-esque person in this season that I’m particularly excited about because it does break the mold a little bit of our villains, which seem to be often very redeemable in their own way … And we get to explore the deep, dark minds of a psychopathic personality, so I’m very excited about that.”

Personally, we feel like what this show needs is the equivalent of what “True Blood” had with Russell Edgington, or “Dexter” had with the Trinity Killer. You need someone you can unite against, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be someone supernatural or extremely old. They just need to be someone who poses a significant threat, and is so unpredictable that it forces you to take some action.

With all this being said, don’t expect to find out very much about this villain in the early going. The show will take a little bit of time before they start to lift the veil on who this really is.
