‘The Blacklist’ season 2, episode 1 preview: New trailer is all kinds of awesome

The Blacklist logo any seasonOne of the reasons we feel like “The Blacklist” is so successful is because NBC knows how to market the heck out of this show, and we have another example of it in the video.

This trailer for the premiere episode “Lord Baltimore” basically shows you in two minutes why you probably love this show so much. There is relentless action, interesting characters, and of course James Spader. Raymond Reddington is one of TV’s best anti-heroes, and he proves it yet again here by threatening to burn up some cash and other misdeeds.

The truth here is that there is still someone Red is terrified of, and his name is Berlin. He explains in the trailer that he is one of the reasons why he turned himself into the FBI in the first place, and he wants to do what he can in an effort to take this guy down. Obviously, Berlin did something to his daughter, and wants to punish someone close to Reddington as a way of getting revenge: Liz Keen. Some may take this as more evidence of the “she is his daughter” theory, but we feel like it almost doesn’t matter. The point here is that she is someone close to Red, and therefore it is someone he would have a hard time losing. Berlin knows this, and this is where the tension comes from.

There will be other villains who turn up throughout the upcoming episode, and the title of the premiere is a reference to one of them. We’ll just have to see where this develops from start to finish.
