NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Reigning champ Josh Kaufman to star as Pippin on Broadway
The following is news that certainly brings a smile to our face, as it ensures that one talented winner of “The Voice” is going to remain in the spotlight for a while.
According to the Associated Press, Josh Kaufman, who won the show this past spring as a member of Team Usher, will be playing the title role at some point in the future in “Pippin.” Kyle Dean Massey currently stars in the role, but he will have a turn of his own very soon. It’s a chance for the show to clearly have a familiar face in the lead role, and that’s great news when it comes to ticket sales. For Massey, this is merely just another great opportunity to stay in the spotlight. You really need these chances to keep a high profile while you prepare some other music on the side.
Speaking to the AP, Kaufman had the following to say about the gig:
“It’s something I’m really excited about … I tend to be the kind of person who doesn’t want to do just one thing. I get bored. So I’m really excited about having a new challenge and having something different to do.”
Kaufman just made his latest appearance on TV a little earlier this week, as he had the opportunity to perform the National Anthem for the recent Indianapolis Colts home game. (Josh calls the city home.) We’re sure that he will also return to “The Voice” at some point later this fall, since almost every winner gets a chance to do so at some point.
