In just a matter of a few short days, we are going to see “The Voice” back on the air. With that, we also have the first extended preview now from NBC all about what you can expect from at least one contestant.
NBC did not exactly make a whole lot of information available about the man in the video below. What we know is pretty clear. His name is Damien, and he works for TSA. This, after his audition, leads to a funny exchange as Blake Shelton tries to find out who took his favorite pocketknife at the Nashville airport some time ago.
Vocally, we understand why he got all four coaches to turn around. He has crazy range, and more importantly, he connects very well to the music that he sings. We had no problem believing him as he sang “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.” He does need to work on containing some of his runs, though, as there were a few of these that were rather unwieldy.
This video also gives you a sense as to what Gwen Stefani and Pharrell are going to be like in this post full-time, and while we feel like they did a decent job here, we also would not necessarily say that they did anything to reinvent the wheel or change what we expect from a coach on this show.
