As you may have heard recently, Adam Lambert is going to be a guest-judge on “American Idol” this coming season, and we now have the first photo of him in action alongside Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez.
This image was shared on Adam’s official Instagram, and the former season 8 contestant opted to bring a touch of color with a blue coat to go over a white shirt. You can see New York firmly in the background.
The reason for the judging switch-up at the last minute is very unfortunate, as Keith Urban is back in Australia as he and wife Nicole Kidman grieve the loss of her father. While we are happy that Adam has an opportunity, you never want to see it come under such sad circumstances.
As we said when this announcement was first made, we have full confidence that Adam will do a great job filling in. He’s done mentoring and judging on other shows before, and he is one of the best examples of how to use a singing show to brand yourself as a performer. His advice can be very catered to that, while many other judges look at the show more through a different lens. They ended up discovering fame and success in a different way.
“American Idol” always tapes its new seasons fairly early, with one of the primary reasons for it being that they want to ensure that they can accommodate schedules, and get done a good portion of the competition in advance. Hollywood Week typically tapes in November, and then the show premieres in January. Hopefully Adam gets another opportunity to be a part of this season later on.
