‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 1 preview: Alaric’s new teaching gig

When “The Vampire Diaries” returns on Thursday, October 2, the show will not spend a whole lot of time before setting up what really is the new normal for many of its characters.

In some ways, it feels like Whitmore is quickly transforming into the new Mystic Falls, given that the majority of our characters have migrated there. Both Tyler and Liv are seen in Alaric’s new class in the sneak peek below, and the two are joined by none other than Elena. It’s nice to see that Alaric has already landed himself a pretty sweet new teaching position, and it definitely makes sense that he would be teaching something like the occult. At this point, there are probably few people out there who know the subject matter better.

The one thing that you really do have to remember when viewing this particular preview is that we are still early in the story, and obviously the producers don’t want to give anything major away. You can probably assume, and rightfully so, that there will be some more exciting events coming up for these characters. They just may take a little bit more time before being made clear to us.

In case you are wondering what characters are not at Whitmore right now, the main people to consider include Stefan (who is off doing something else), his brother Damon, and of course Bonnie. After all, the latter two have been sent somewhere else after their “death.”
