‘Finding Carter’ season 2: Looking ahead to the MTV drama’s future
Tonight, MTV says goodbye for the time being to “Finding Carter,” a show that has definitely changed things up for the network’s programming slate. This is a show that looked at an issue of kidnapping in a way that few others have, and it also proved that there is a place for something like this on a network that relies often on either social media or silly moments.
So where does the show go from here? The first thing that we should remind you of is simply that the show has already been confirmed for another season. Season 2 will premiere at some point in the summer of next year, and will continue to feature Carter trying to navigate this impossible situation in her life.
As for the structure of the show, we expect it to be largely the same. This is a character drama that relies primarily on the performances, and putting these people in interesting situations.
So what is the challenge? Mostly, it is trying to ensure that the premise does not get burnt out. This is a different show than an “NCIS” or even a “Teen Wolf,” where you can continue to create new storylines that do not really impact what the original premise of the show at all. Here, it’s a little different, given that the biggest shocker that the show could ever really have (the family history) is already out of the way. The rest of the show will depend on how interesting the story arcs are, and whether or not the hype can match what we had this summer.
