ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Private Practice’ alum signs up
At this point in time, it really should not be news at all to see that Shonda Rhimes is reusing someone from “Private Practice” / “Grey’s Anatomy” on “Scandal.” After all, she has done it a variety of times already. Heck, even one of the show’s regulars in Scott Foley was a critical part of “Grey’s Anatomy” at one time.
So who is the latest face to be added to the fold? Let’s just say that it is someone you should be familiar with already. According to Entertainment Weekly, Brian Benben, who played the magnificent Sheldon on the “Grey’s Anatomy” spin-off, has been cast for a recurring role on “Scandal.” The twist here is simply that this is it. As with recent tradition, there are no other details available about this role at the moment.
The biggest thing that is notable about this casting is mostly that while Rhimes has reused many performers, longtime regulars have been a little more scarce when it comes to crossing over from one of Shonda’s shows to the other. The only real exception to that recently is Caterina Scorsone, but that’s a little different because she is playing the part of Amelia multiple times. We don’t really count Foley, either, given that he was only recurring on “Grey’s Anatomy” as Henry. This casting is evidence that Shonda really has faith in Benben, and she should. Most likely, he will kill any role he is put in.
The new “Scandal” season premieres on Thursday, September 25, and we will hopefully have further updates soon.
