‘The Mentalist’ alum Owain Yeoman scores big ‘Turn: Washington’s Spies’ season 2 role
Great news for Owain Yeoman: One of our favorite actors from the first six seasons of “The Mentalist” has already secured a pretty sweet job for himself. Not only that, but he is playing one of the more well-known historical figures out there.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Yeoman will be a series regular in the second season of AMC’s “Turn: Washington’s Spies,” and will specifically play one of the most well-known traitors / spies out there in Benedict Arnold.
It will be interesting to see where the story decides to pick up when it comes to Arnold, especially since “Turn” is one of those series that has a difficult time trying to balance out real history with enough dramatization to also make this a worthy television show.
In case you are wondering why we specifically wrote “Turn: Washington’s Spies,” it is because the title of the series changed a little while back following the first season. We imagine the reason why is because someone can hear the word “Turn,” and have no idea what the series is even about.
Yeoman exited “The Mentalist” as a regular halfway through last season, as the show went through an extensive reboot that put Patrick Jane with the FBI, and Yeoman’s Rigsby along with his wife Van Pelt were reduced to recurring. It’s possible they could turn up again in the future, but they are no longer a focal point in the story. Interestingly, the show is still going through changes, given that Emily Swallow is also no longer a regular.
