‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 6: Crossover with ‘Scorpion’ coming

Are we starting to think that every CBS procedural drama is somehow tied to the others? We’re starting to, based on the number of crossover episodes that we’ve seen. We know already that the three “NCIS” series are connected, and they are also in the same world as “Hawaii Five-0.”

Now, you can add the new drama “Scorpion” to the mix. According to Entertainment Weekly, Linda Hunt of “NCIS: Los Angeles” fame will bring her character of Hetty to the new series “Scorpion” for an episode airing around Halloween, when the team needs her knowledge in order to execute a proper undercover mission.

We’re huge fans of Hetty, but this is clearly just smart marketing for CBS at its finest. Hetty’s appearance here is not going to disrupt anything on her regular series, but you can still have an opportunity here to bring some new viewers to this show. “Scorpion” airs an hour before “NCIS: Los Angeles” Monday night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern, so it makes logical sense to pair these two shows together.

Will it really help either show when it comes to viewership? That’ll be tough, given that “Scorpion” is up against “Dancing with the Stars,” “The Voice,” and other great scripted programming over on Fox. Meanwhile, “NCIS: Los Angeles” for most of the season will be forced up against the nasty combination of both “Castle” and “The Blacklist.” Someone certainly needs to help this show out.

What do you make about Hetty coming over to this other show, and will it make a difference when it comes to your viewing patterns at all? As always, we want to hear some of your thoughts right now with a comment.
