TV Quick Hits: ‘Teen Titans’ series; Ricky Gervais joins ‘Galavant’; Tim Tebow on ‘Good Morning America’
“Teen Titans” TV series – Could the Teen Titans really go to TNT? It seems possible, given the heavy buzz going on right now around the internet. A pilot based on the DC Comics team, from the minds of Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes, is being considered at the network. This show is entitled “Titans,” and could feature Robin / Nightwing / Dick Grayson as the lead to go along with some other popular characters, including Raven and Starfire.
We’re certainly for more DC characters on TV, but there’s a part of us that really wished that the comic universe was not getting so segmented on TV, given that it gives shows like the excellent “Arrow” a smaller roster of heroes to work with. We have yet to get the impression that DC is willing to let some of these shows come up with their own versions of key characters.
Ricky Gervais joins “Galavant” – Given that Ricky really has zero need for money given his checks from “The Office,” you have to think that he is only going to sign on for a TV show if he really believes in it.
Well, he’s done that for ABC’s upcoming fantasy / musical “Galavant.” Per Entertainment Weekly, Ricky will play a mystical wizard and potion expert named Xanax … and you can probably guess what he does from there. (Need help? Let’s say that he helps people hallucinate to the finest.)
This show also has Timothy Omundson as a regular, and guest spots from John Stamos and Hugh Bonneville. How can you now be intrigued?
Tim Tebow joins “Good Morning America” For those curious, the onetime NFL quarterback has signed on to do segments for the ABC morning giant all about motivational stories. Tebow was known throughout his playing career for his leadership skills.
