‘Outlander’ episode 6 spoilers: Tobias Menzies on the terror of Black Jack

If you thought that “Outlander” had some intense, potentially-terrible people in its world already, you don’t know Jack. (Sorry, we really couldn’t resist.)

For the first time really since her initial time in Scotland, Saturday’s episode (per E! News) is going to allow Claire the opportunity to break free from Dougal. On the surface, isn’t that great news? Well, the answer to that is “yes” and “no,” since there are a number of consequences that comes as a result … including her spending time with Black Jack. You are going to learn a whole lot more about him in the process, but discover that this may not necessarily be a good thing.

In speaking about his portrayal of Jack and what we can see from the character moving forward, Tobias Menzies said the following to E! News:

“In the portrayal of Jack, I had to understand the context out of which his behavior comes. It’s absolutely having to do with what his men have suffered, what he has suffered and what he’s seen. He’s seen too much. Frank and Jack are both men formed by war but one has arguably the love of a good woman and he’s salvaged from it or survives it and arguably, Jack doesn’t.”

Sound exciting? Book readers understand that there is something big coming up, but for all non-readers, all we have to say is to brace yourself. This season is going to be picking up even more than it has already … and there is only so much more left to tell this year.
