‘American Idol’ season 14: Harry Connick Jr. on new strategy for the judges
When “American Idol” season 14 airs on Fox, it appears as though there will be a different strategy in mind for some of the judges. In the past, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. have take gambles on singers that have talent, but may be missing one or two components somewhere. That may not be the case anymore.
While promoting his new moving “Dolphin Tale 2,” the ever-entertaining Harry sat down for a chat with the Gananoque Reporter, and spoke a little about what he is talking about here when it comes to judging the acts:
“We all realize that the people you see on the day of the audition are not going to change that much. Even if you find this diamond in the rough, it’s not like they’re going to explode into this seasoned performer in six months.
“As much as we thought that would happen last year, it didn’t happen. People who were timid, you think they’re going to start coming out of their shell, but it really doesn’t work … So we’re really looking for people who are fairly extraordinary on the first day, because what you see on that day is what you are going to see at the finale.”
We’re still wondering whether or not this will work, mostly because you have to wonder whether or not there even are enough talented singers left in America who can really fill that “star” role. Most who have wanted to be a part of this experience have at this point most-likely signed up already, unless you get some people who are just breaking into the age limit and are quite frankly sensational.
Do you think that Harry has this right, and that this will actually make a difference when it comes to the series moving forward? Share your thoughts with a comment, and head over here to get some more news worth singing about via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
