‘Longmire’ season 4: The latest campaign to boost renewal hopes

Big news -We’ve done our best to continue providing at least one “Longmire” a story every Monday, and for a while, many of these were story-based.

Unfortunately, the cancellation of the show by A&E has changed that, and we’re left with a variety of more-depressing subjects to discuss. We’ve already touched extensively on possible networks to pick up the show, the actors speaking out, and other reasons to be hopeful. For this story, it is mostly a reminder that the ball is in all of our courts to try to make something happen.

As all of you out there know, Monday night at 10:00 p.m. Eastern is the timeslot the show has called home for the past few years, and this also happens to be when a Twitter campaign is starting up courtesy of the dedicated @LongmirePosse. Basically, use that hour to make as much noise as possible, and we will see if it makes any impact when it comes to possible networks and companies interested in acquiring the show.

There has always been a strange business relationship between Twitter and actually monetizing entertainment, at least in that trending something does not always equal big ratings or huge earnings. However, at the same time it is about awareness. This is an extremely effective way to get the word out, and based on how Nielsen is now tracking tweets and social-media impressions, social footprints are something that networks are looking at when it comes to future marketing strategies. They will far and away choose to pick up a show with an active fanbase, one that will follow them to the ends of the earth, than one whose following remains dormant.

In the end, this is important work that could have at least some impact on the show’s future. It shows that even though the cancellation news has been out for a while, the “Longmire” family still cares about the show, and will continue to support it until it finds a new home.

We’ve got some further “Longmire” coverage coming up soon, so continue to be on the lookout for more of that. (A good link to bookmark is this one.) Also, you can sign up today if you want to get some more scoop on all we cover
