‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 trailer: New love for Paul Wesley’s Stefan and much more

So far, “The Vampire Diaries” has chosen to keep most of its cards for season 6 close to the vest, but based on the brand-new trailer that The CW has officially put out there right now, that may be changing.

Let’s begin here with what qualifies for “breaking news” more than most anything else: Stefan’s got a new lady in his life! Sadly, ‘shippers, it is not Caroline. Instead, it is a mystery woman who at least for a certain amount of time has no clue at all she is dating a vampire … at least until she acts for her new beau to tell her something that she doesn’t know about him. Who seriously thought that this was going to end well for her?

Elsewhere, the major theme is Elena’s struggle to move forward with her life now that Damon is gone. She cannot get back in her home of Mystic Falls, either, and that may be making this pain and the process of losing him all the harder. She doesn’t have anyone really to turn to other than Caroline, and Stefan is off somewhere reasonably far away from Whitmore College.

At least Alaric is back, right? We hope that he does have something interesting to do now, and we at least are happy to see someone who brings a different dimension to the proceedings again. That was sorely missing throughout most of the fifth season.

The new season premieres on The CW come Thursday, October 2, and hopefully there will be a whole lot more in the way of information and details released before that time.
