‘The Newsroom’ season 3 spoilers: New Jeff Daniels, Olivia Munn footage in HBO trailer
We were hoping to get a new trailer for “The Newsroom” season 3 tonight before the premiere of “Boardwalk Empire” season 5 on HBO, and while we did not exactly end up getting that, we did have the next best thing: A little bit of footage of the episodes ahead courtesy of HBO’s fall teaser video that they played at around 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.
So what did you see in here specifically? How about Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels) in a tux, or brief sightings of Sloan (Olivia Munn) and some other characters? It is at least something. We didn’t see enough, unfortunately, to find out what some of the larger story arcs are. We do, however, know from the first teaser that Will and some of his “News Night” staff could be facing some legal ramifications, and it will lead to the anchor wondering if it is time for him to say goodbye to his longtime profession.
Typically, HBO is very good about getting some video clips up from their previews that air on the network, but at the time of publication, there is nothing online just yet. Hopefully, that will change in the near future, and we will certainly have some more updates on this very subject as soon as they become available. Update: You can now see the video below.
Also, there is still no official premiere date for “The Newsroom,” but we would imagine that Sunday, November 9 could be the date. The show cannot start earlier than that, and if it picks up any later, it could collide headfirst into the holiday season. Even for a final season, the network wouldn’t want that roadblock.
