‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: ‘Covert Affairs’ star checks in for recurring role

Law & Order: SVU logoWant to see the latest new face arriving onto “Law & Order: SVU”? Well, you don’t have to look any further than this article!

According to a new report from TVLine, Peter Gallagher of “Covert Affairs” fame has stopped by for a major recurring role, where he will be playing the part of Deputy Chief William Dodds. He is the man responsible for overseeing all Special Victims Units across New York City, and is hard-nosed, tough, and expects the absolute best from every single person who works under him in this department.

In confirming the news to the website, showrunner Warren Leight made his feelings about Gallagher rather clear:

“I’ve wanted to write for and work with Peter Gallagher since…forever … He’s an actor’s actor — deft with text and subtext; emotion and intellect. Like everyone else in our cast, he’s also a great singer. We’re all thrilled that this long into the show’s run, actors of his quality want to do an arc on SVU.”

This is casting that is very easy to get behind! Peter’s super-skilled, a hard worker, and there is a sort of mystique that comes with guest-starring on a “Law & Order.” Just look at all of the other acting greats that have done so over the years. For some, this show is a stepping stone; for others, it is a way to further highlight that skills you’ve shown so many times before.

The new season will still not premiere until the end of the month, so hopefully before that time, there will be even more great casting news to announce.
