‘Supergirl’ project officially in works; ‘Glee,’ ‘Chuck’ alum teams with ‘Arrow’ exec

Is the “Supergirl” series really happening? It seems like it, and there are connections all around here whether it be “Arrow” or “Glee” producers.

Yesterday, we wrote about how such a project could end up coming to fruition, but the new reports coming up today have a different group of people involved. Per Deadline, this project from Warner Bros. TV (which houses all projects related to DC Comics), and will be written and executive producers by Ali Alder. She’s worked on one of our favorite shows of all time in “Chuck,” and she made “Glee” better in the small amount of time she was there. Also involved will be “Arrow” and “The Flash” producer Greg Berlanti, in addition to Geoff Johns over at DC.

This project will reportedly be a new take on the character, so you can go ahead and rule out the possibility of Laura Vandervoot (pictured above from “Smallville”) will play the part, even if she would be a good choice still for it.

There is also no network attached to the show right now, which is a bummer given that we’d love to see her added to the CW universe of DC heroes in some shape or form. We know that “Arrow” tries to keep the amount of superpowers low, but they have already broken that rule by bringing on The Flash in the first place. Plus, they have the audience, and there is not an expectation to need big ratings in order to stick around. This could be a trio of shows that really work.
