‘Royal Pains’ season 7: Did season 6 finale ratings improve renewal odds?
Thanks to Labor Day Weekend, it took us a little longer than usual to get some of the final ratings together for the “Royal Pains” finale on Tuesday night. After seeing them, though, we must admit that we just as concerned as ever on the future of the show.
Only 1.78 million viewers caught the final episode of the season Tuesday entitled “Ganging Up,” which was tied for the least-watched episode of the show ever. Were people really that turned off by the Khloe Kardashian cameo? We’re joking there, mostly because the ratings have been down across the board all year on a significant level. The finale itself had less than half the viewership of the season 5 finale, which is an indictment on either the direction of the show, the lack of promotion away from USA (a network that had a pretty poor summer outside of “Suits”), or both.
Personally, we’ve long felt like the show was underrated, and a great source of summer fun. We’re just worried about its future now with these sort of noticeable drops versus past years. It also felt like the finale was shaped to work as a possible end to the series in some ways; Hank was happy, Evan and Paige were moving forward, Jeremiah and Divya were on good terms, and Boris didn’t collapse, which we totally thought was going to happen based on events a little earlier in the episode. Even the future of HankMed appears relatively stable.
We’ll still be crossing our fingers that there is still enough success here for USA to give us at least another season; if nothing else, they were good with giving closure to “White Collar,” “Psych,” and “Burn Notice” in the past two years.

Bring back Jill! Getting rid of her was the DUMBEST move they ever made. Nobody fits with Hank but her. The show has been slowly dying since she left.

I’d like another season of Royal Pains. I love the fashions and the lifestyles of the rich and famous vibe.

I think they’re done. Everything’s at equilibrium (or almost so).
Sadly, when a Kardashian showed up, I almost turned off the episode without watching the rest. I was no longer invested. Do they really need THAT factor? I literally had to talk myself into watching the rest of the episode! Adding a Kardashian even for a minute or two was enough to convince me I didn’t need this show anymore—and I had loved it up until this season! Major shark jump here, and way too many coincidences, one after the other. The writing is not what it used to be…if you have to shove a Kardashian into the mix, you’ve shown you have no more new ideas…
Plus, Hank and Evan are wayyyy too understanding of everything Emma does. Are these brothers or saints? They’re like the incredibly understanding parents she’s never had. Who ARE these guys? It’s too artificial, too soppy to be believable.
End it now.

Please renew Royal Pains for at least another season, but get Emma off the show. Thank you.

Throwing Emma into the mix late in the series seemed “SHOEHORNED”.

Would like to see the show renewed, but please hire new writers and come up with some interesting, realistic stories. The Emma story was weird and didn’t fit. The story of Divya maybe loosing custody of her child is stupid. Does Hank really need to have one affair after another ?

Renew Please!!!
This episode was not that good. Khloe did ruin the moment. there was no place for her same with the OC Housewife, Jumping the Shark moment!
Viviana’s story line was so out of place for this show. Please stop forcing this topic down our throats. I also don’t like the way her story ended, Divya and Jeremiah hired her a lawyer of their own pocket. Viviana’s response “Thanks” Wow It changed her life, really that’s it Thanks. I wish people hired a top lawyer for me and paid for it. I have seen way to much of this entitlement mentality from people like Viviana.
I did not like Emma’s story line either. I think the cameo’s from fake celebs and these two story lines are what is killing the show, clearly no one is interested.
Season 7 let’s get back to the brothers and building Hank Med and add competition maybe from the Van Dyke brothers. Also lets see more of Divya’s and Jeremiah storyline.

Moving “Royal Pains” to Tuesday night was the kiss of death!! They’re going head-to-head with “Rizzoli & Isles”, and they’re getting clobbered in the ratings. “Royal Pains” was very good for USA for several seasons; too bad USA can’t return the favor. USA pretty much sucks!!!

Royal Pains is one of the few good series on american TV now. I don’t need anymore blood, gut, gore or infidelity programs. Clean unstressful entertainment without the f—bomb every other word is hard to find. When want stress on TV I watch FoxNews! The real world is going to hell and corporate TV networks provide pitiful news coverage without liberal bias and programs seemingly approving the lack of morals and courtesy and truth we can view. Get your heads out of Obamas pathetic ass, stop ignoring and/or reporting/editorializing unethical and untruthful news and programming. Keep up shows ie the NCIS programs and Royal Pains that are clean and/or entertaining in content, AND TO HELL WITH POLITICALLY CORRECT–JUST TELL THE TRUTH.
