‘Chicago Fire’ season 3, ‘Chicago PD’ season 2, and a possible epic crossover

Love crossovers with all the shows executive-produced by Dick Wolf? Then you are probably going to be pretty happy with the news that we’ve got for you today.

You most likely knew that there were going to be some crossover events between “Chicago Fire” season 3 and “Chicago PD” coming up, mostly because of the close connection the shows share to each other. They film nearby, and have casts that jump between the two frequently.

In addition to this, it seems like the producers involved also still want to ensure that there could be another major crossover event coming that includes “Law & Order: SVU.” This is at least according to what executive producer Matt Olmstead had to say to the subject in a new TVLine interview:

“We want to be as ambitious as we were last time … Last year, we also did a crossover with SVU that we liked a lot. We’re exploring a possible crossover with them as well. [We] definitely want to do at least one, perhaps two big crossovers, involving any combination of the three shows.”

This does to us sound exciting, though it is a little early to say for sure right now given that we don’t have a whole lot of other details. Plus, there are some other issues that the two “Chicago” shows in particular have to work through, including a death on “Chicago Fire” that could rock most of the fan base.

The premiere of “Chicago Fire” season 3 airs on NBC come Tuesday, September 23, while “Chicago PD” is going to follow it up the next day.
