‘Masters of Sex’ season 2, episode 9 preview: Is it all crashing down for Masters, Libby?

Next week, “Masters of Sex” comes on Showtime with its ninth episode of the season, and it will be one that starts to take on a variety of important questions … including just how much a certain Bill Masters may be hurting others with his actions, especially his wife.

As Libby and Virginia start to grow closer, Lizzy Caplan’s character is going to continuing feeling some semblance of guilt over what she is doing. She is not a stupid person, and knows that what she is doing is wrong. She doesn’t want to hurt Libby any longer, but she is simultaneously struggling with the fact that she does have deep feelings for Bill. Suffice it to say that this is not an easy position for her to be in at all.

To make matters worse, she is taking rash measures to enter therapy to discuss it … and we imagine part of the reason for that is for her to understand what she really wants from her relationship with Bill, but also because Dr. Masters is so terrible about discussing such matters in the first place. Even though he is as active a participant as there comes in this affair, he continues to not see how it may actually impact his wife.

As we’ve said in so many articles this season, it is only a matter of time before things hit the fan. This is not some fictional story with an unknown ending; we know that a move is coming that will change the lives of everyone involved, and we’re just waiting for it now.
