‘Under the Dome’ season 2, episode 10 preview: Could Big Jim kill Joe?

Monday night’s “Under the Dome” is about many things, but protecting the egg seems to be one of them. It would only make the show so much better now if someone would bother to protect Joe rather than letting him come at the mercy of Big Jim.

Still, this is the primary subject matter of the sneak-peek clip below, which features Norrie trying to beg Jim in a way not to kill him, saying most that it is something that he simply would not do. Dean Norris’ character, meanwhile, disagrees heavily with this notion.

If we were to pick a side here, though, we’d say that Norris is probably right. Joe’s a big part of this story, and it’s clear that the mysterious “dome” has some sort of mission for him. There’s a reason why he is there, and while Jim may wish he could understand everything, he doesn’t. There are many things that he will need to think about before pulling a trigger here.

The one negative thing about this preview is something that we’ll reinforce here, and hope other shows stop doing at some point in the future: Frequently repeating character names. Nobody does this in real life, calling their friends by name mid-conversation. Why do it on TV, unless you are just trying to cater incessantly to new fans maybe watching for the first time? It’s just one of those common TV pet peeves, and this show isn’t the worst when it comes to it.
