‘Big Brother 16’ exclusive: Donny Thompson on Team America, biggest regret, new TV gig

Donny -It’s pretty hard not to love Donny Thompson. While he may not have been the best player in the history of “Big Brother,” he was a genuinely sweet guy with a great demeanor and stories for days. Considering the fact that he was almost gone week one, it’s quite special that he made it as far as he did.

We also have to say that Donny, despite probably being one of the most-popular contestants to be evicted alongside Zach, still was kind enough to give us probably the best exit interview responses we’ve got since we started sending them in via email. He was honest, open, and his answers are smart and perceptive. He was even aware enough of what one of his larger mistakes was recently in the game.

CarterMatt – First of all, how have you been adjusting to life out of the house so far?

I’ve been pretty good. I stayed in a beautiful hotel with nice people and ate some great food!

Do you blame Frankie and Derrick the most for your eviction because they were in Team America with you?

100%. To know that America voted for the three of us together, should have told us we should work together. That was a little bit of outside information that America liked us and wanted us to work together. I understand making it to final three might have been impractical, but I think we should have gone further together as a team. I know they could have swayed the votes to save me, basically Team America voted me out.

Were you surprised at all by how well you did in some of the competitions?

I was surprised. I was twice the age of some of the other houseguests, they were young and definitely in shape. I am just an average 42 year old. I believe most of them were 4 year college graduates, and I had never went to college.

Is there anything this past week that you wish you had done differently?

My downfall may have been getting into a heart-to-heart conversation with my arch-nemesis Christine about a week ago about how I thought things would play out, and she even offered for us to potentially work together. And then she went and told everyone about our conversation.

Finally, what did you think about the offer to be on The Bold and the Beautiful?

I am flattered and honored that they would choose someone like me to be on it. I wanted to be likable when I got out of the house, so to have another show wanting me to be a guest, it made me feel great.

So Donny for All-Stars, anyone? We’re sure he will at least be asked, and it will be up to him if he wants to return.
