‘The Mentalist’ season 7 spoilers: Josie Loren already promoted to series regular

“The Mentalist” is not wasting a whole lot of time getting their season 7 cast in order, and that includes one of their new rookies.

Per TVLine, “Make It or Break It” alum Josie Loren, who you may have heard about being cast to play the new role of Michelle Vega, has been promoted to series regular. Vega is an up-and-comer who has a great deal of skill, but could also present a series of challenges that are difficult for Patrick Jane to deal with. She also may not have any personal attachment at all, given the time in which she is coming in after the Red John saga. (For those wondering, there’s not much of a time jump between the season 6 finale and the premiere.)

We imagine that the promotion for Loren was inevitable, and something that the team on the show expected to do so long as she was for sure interesting in the role. After all, it was already revealed that Emily Swallow was not returning as Agent Kim Fischer, which opened up that spot on the team to a certain degree.

For those pining for a premiere date, though, you’re going to be waiting a long time. We don’t expect CBS to get around to making these sort of announcements until we are almost to the point in the fall where other things are getting either canceled, or shifted around. They will want to ensure the best placement for the thirteen episodes. The future from here on out will likely depend both on its ratings, and also how well some other series on the schedule fare.
