‘Masters of Sex’ season 2, episode 7 preview: Should Bill take the money?

We are now at the halfway point on “Masters of Sex” season 2, and if there is one thing that we could definitely say for the time being about the Bill – Libby Masters relationship, it is that it is clearly going in the wrong direction.

Rather than the two parties working to try to make their relationship work, thy are mired in fight after fight … especially when it comes to money. Bill’s insistence on the study is causing them to fall apart financially, and she cannot understand why he doesn’t take money that his basically sitting for him with his mother. It is money that she wants him to have, but yet “trust” (or pride?) is keeping up from going through with taking it.

For those curious, this conversation is the basis for the “I provide the roof” outburst that you may have seen already, and this line (which is intensively delivered by Michael Sheen) is what sends this entire scene careening to a half. We’ll have to wait and see just what happens for these two characters from here, but of course you know that it will go south sooner or later. The only real question to us is if this is going to happen before or after some of the truth about Bill and Virginia’s affair starts to become public knowledge.
