‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 19: Derek Hough reacts to Julianne Hough as judge

As you may have heard already this week (especially if you are a big fan of “Dancing with the Stars“), Julianne Hough is going to be entering the ballroom this season in a very different capacity: Judge. She’s done the gig twice already, but it was always as a guest before now.

So following this announcement, we were of course very interested in hearing with her brother Derek had to say. Some may think of this as an advantage for him to have a loyal supporter over there, but he doesn’t quite see it that. Instead, just take a look at what he had to say on Twitter:

“My toughest critic and judge is actually gonna be a judge on DWTS. Uh oh!!! Congrats Jules !! Gonna be a fun and interesting season.”

Do we feel like Julianne is going to want to see her brother succeed? Sure, but there is probably something to be said for his comment here in that she knows just how good he can really be. Therefore, if he comes out one week with bad choreography or it looks like he’s not giving it his all, we could see a situation where she calls him out for it on live TV. Hey, we’ve already seen Julianne do it with some other pros. We feel like she’ll be opinionated, but one of the things we’re most interested in figuring out is just how these judges are going to have room to breathe now. It already looked in past seasons like Bruno Tonioli was always about to accidentally smack fellow judge Len Goodman in the head with his critiques.
