Could North Carolina change ‘Under the Dome,’ ‘Sleepy Hollow’s’ future plans?
While filming locations may not be something that you immediately think of when you are watching a show, there is something happening right now in North Carolina that could change the way that some popular series, including “Under the Dome” and “Sleepy Hollow,” are filmed in the state.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, North Carolina has made some moves now to terminate the film incentive program that they had previously established there, which provided benefits to productions who wanted to come and work on productions in the state. This is why places like here, Louisiana, Georgia, and even New Mexico recently have been able to attract projects that may have otherwise remained in Los Angeles.
While this is definitely going to be hurtful for those who work in the North Carolina film industry, it is a little early to think that there will be sweeping changes with any show just yet. For example, “Sleepy Hollow” will have a hard time moving production midway through a season, but if it or “Under the Dome” return for another run of episodes, you do have to wonder whether or not this is something that they could consider.
Some other shows have also previously filmed in North Carolina, but have already moved. “Homeland” shifted entirely over to South Africa for its upcoming fourth season, whereas “Revolution” moved down to Texas for its final season in an effort to present a different sort of scenery on the show.
For those who love the business side of entertainment and television, this is definitely something worth following up on, given the recent trend of programs trying to move away from traditional locations.
