‘True Detective’ season 2: HBO head already hyping up new story
Some of the powers that be over at HBO really want you to know one thing right now: The upcoming second season of “True Detective” is going to be awesome. How much so? Well, they are even comparing it pretty favorably to what you saw on the show last year.
Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival (one of the many great things that happens in this Scottish city during the summer), Michael Lombardo talked a little bit about some of the challenges that go into making a show like this a hit. Then, he hyped up some of what show creator Nic Pizzolatto has been up to when it comes to making some pretty amazing scripts:
“When you have a success like True Detective it’s challenging, less for us and more for someone like Nic, how to face the page again and start afresh and not be haunted by the success of the show you’ve just done. But the writing is better than last season. It’s exceptional.”
In the end, we have plenty of reasons to be excited about this story, at least for the time being. After all, it’s pretty hard not to be when you have the potential of people like Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch involved, at least supposedly. For some reason, the network has been extremely careful, even in the department of not announcing anything for the upcoming season just yet. In due time, maybe they will.
