‘Last Comic Standing’ season 9: When could the next season premiere?
At this time last week, many of you were kicking back and watching the season 8 finale of “Last Comic Standing.” Now, you have to just kick back and try to laugh at some of your own jokes, which are probably not as funny as you really think that they are.
Of course, the good news that we have for you is that the show is already set to be back for a ninth season, and that will air most likely in the summer. We suppose that NBC could bring it back early if they really wanted to, but we don’t see a whole lot of the point in that. It did well in the summer, so why bury it against anything else? We would also assume that the judges (Roseanne, Keenan Ivory Wayans, and Russell Peters) are all going to be back for another season given that this was a nice little platform for all of them to display their talents.
The one thing that we would really hope for right now above all else is that they keep most of the format the same, including allowing the judges to pick the winner given that this is NBC picking the development deal, and they will not be swayed by sob story or because someone has a beard or likes beer jokes.
What would we like to see more of? Maybe some of the competition round challenges, since we found those some of the most fun. We know that this is not traditional standup, but since the prize for this show is something so unique, we feel like it merits seeing what else a comic can do in addition to the traditional sets.
