TV Quick Hits: ‘Veep’ star’s Emmy video; Karen Gillan’s ‘Selfie’ online; Cookie Monster’s Ice Bucket Challenge
Cookie Monster does the Ice Bucket Challenge – We have to start with this, mostly because it’s adorable: Watching Cookie Monster of “Sesame Street” fame take part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge after being called out.
The puppet handles the ice / water better than most, we have to say! Not only that, but he does a good enough job that he remembers to call out Neil Patrick Harris, Janelle Monae, and many others. We’re mostly just surprised here that knowing Cookie Monster, this was not a milk bucket challenge to go with all those cookies.
Karen Gillan’s ‘Selfie’ pilot online – There were many critics of this new comedy the moment the trailer came out, which conflicted many even more given the love that “Doctor Who” fans have for Gillan.
Well, you can watch the entire ABC show’s pilot online via Hulu right now, and while we’re going to save our full opinion for another article soon, we will at least say that there are a few laughs in there. The show has some potential, but this suffers from a common case of being too by-the-numbers and obvious.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Emmy spoof – What happens when you combine the “Veep” star and a pair of “Breaking Bad” favorites in Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul? You have one of the funnier web videos that we have seen over the past few days promoting the Emmys Monday night.
Speaking of the Emmys, be sure to come back tomorrow morning to CarterMatt for our full pre-show preview podcast with Jason Prager! We’ll be making predictions and so much more.
