‘Major Crimes’ season 3, episode 11: When could it air?

Major Crimes -This past week, you had to say goodbye to “Major Crimes” for a significant stretch of time, as the show ended its summer season with a powerful episode entitled “Zoo Story.”

So how long are you going to be waiting now for what lies ahead? The answer here is most likely until fall … at least if the tradition from last year holds. We really appreciated the move that TNT made in 2013, when they premiered the first of their fall episodes around Thanksgiving, and they aired the rest throughout the holiday season and into early January. From a ratings perspective, this is brilliant. Are there people who are off shopping and visiting family? Sure, but there are plenty that are not, and the market share is probably still greater than it is in the November sweeps when there are a few dozen other things airing new episodes. The show benefits from a lack of competition when it comes to live viewers.

Given that the show continued to put in mostly solid numbers in the fall / winter, and the ratings were still great this summer, why not do that again? We’ll be looking out for it.

One other thing we’ll say right now is that the folks over at TNT have to be smiling from ear to ear right now. “Murder in the First” and “The Last Ship” ended up being fairly strong hits for them, while their other shows are going strong. While “Legends” with Sean Bean was not a runaway smash, it was still solid enough in its debut that there is not that much to worry about.
