‘The Amazing Race: Australia vs. New Zealand’ episode 3 review: U-Turn drama and more
“The Amazing Race: Australia vs. New Zealand” is wasting almost no time at all when it comes to introducing some twists into the game, including one that always has a tendency to produce chaos: The U-Turn.
Monday night in Australia, this will enter the game and immediately cause problems for Kiwi team John & Murray. Here is what we really do not understand about these two guys: You know that you are in a race with other players who could potentially force you to do a set of Detours. Why in the world would you act overly competitive all of the time? There is a strategic element to this game in that you want to ensure that you perform well, but also that nobody else in the race hates you. Otherwise, you run the risk of being targeted at almost every given opportunity. They don’t get that, and we definitely expect a U-Turn to come their way so long as they are in the race.
Also in this episode, you will also see a major spat between Aston & Christie, who are not the sort of team who can afford to fight. They are the least-threatening from a physical perspective out of everyone left, and therefore are going to have to run a close to perfect race even if they want to stay around. This fighting, coupled with some physical tasks in Thailand that some of the Aussie teams remaining could excel it, suggests that we will see the first team from New Zealand leave next.
Who knows, though? Maybe there is a non-elimination leg coming, or some later twist could screw things up for everyone.
