‘Suits’ season 4, episode 10: Analyzing possible fates for Louis Litt
Wednesday night marks the “Suits” summer finale, and it caps off what may be the best ten episodes for Louis Litt to date. For the past season and a half especially, Rick Hoffman has made this character into quite possibly our favorite on any USA show ever. He’s funny and conniving, but there is also this vulnerability and depth to the guy that makes you want to constantly root for him … even when he’s awful. All the guy really wants is to be loyal to the firm and use his “Litt the hell up” lines whenever it is appropriate.
This is why we feel so sad to see the man now be cut adrift, and lost in a metaphorical sea of his own guilt and fear. Rather than putting the colleagues he respects through the process of firing him, and possibly endangering themselves in the process, he made the move himself to resign this past Wednesday night.
Could the show put Louis behind bars? We’d be surprised, given that “Orange Is the New Litt” probably would be a very strange detour, especially if he was to ever work at the firm again. That may be a bridge too far. With that being said, we also don’t want to see him back at Pearson Specter right away. It’d be too convenient, and there would be no payoff to the journey of this summer so far.
While creator Aaron Korsh is being very hush-hush on the plans for Louis going into the finale and the final six episodes, we know that it would be personally exciting to see the character try to work somewhere else. Can you imagine this guy dealing with everyday people, or with someone who has zero respect for him at all? We’d watch an entire series of him just doing odd jobs to make money and would never be bored at all.
