‘American Idol’ alum Josh Gracin receiving help after possible suicide attempt
Yesterday, we shared what was some pretty sad and harrowing news that former “American Idol” contestant Josh Gracin seemed ready to take his own life. he had published a note on Facebook saying goodbye to the world, and also seemingly blaming his wife for turning her back on him (his words) after such a long relationship.
Luckily, the police were able to find him and he had done no harm to himself at the time he was found, and today, some further details were released per his management on Facebook. He was admitted to the hospital yesterday for observation, was discharged, and is now receiving treatment at an inpatient facility for the help that he sorely needs. Josh also released a brief statement to go along with it:
“I want to thank you all for your prayers and support. I take responsibility for my actions and apologize dearly for what I have put my family through. With the help of my family and friends, I am getting help. Again, thank you for your love and I will see you very soon.”
Given the headlines surrounding both this and Robin Williams this week, depression and mental health treatment is receiving attention this week, and it should be something that continues to remain in the focus so that some of the stigma around it is eventually erased. We cannot imagine what Gracin and his family are going through right now, but we certainly wish them the best and hope that they can find privacy to get through this together.
Hopefully, we will be back here someday to write a positive update on this story, and that he is doing much better following this very sad time in his life. Josh has certainly received tremendous support from his fans in the past 24 hours, we only hope that, coupled with the love of those close to him, helps to push him in the right direction.
