‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Peter Capaldi did WHAT when he first saw the Tardis?
Be prepared for a surprise now from Peter Capaldi. We knew that the man loved “Doctor Who” growing up, and it really should not be any sort of surprise because of that we are here to discuss just how emotional he got upon walking on board the set of the show for the first time in Cardiff.
Eventually as a part of the international tour promoting the show, Capaldi made it to New York City this week, and while at a press conference he admitted to being somewhat teary-eyed over the experience of seeing the Tardis for the first time in person:
“I turned up on set and saw the Tardis. I remember touching it … the police box … and I got a little bit teary. I was just so thrilled to be there.”
Isn’t this sweet? Of course we hope that Capaldi turns out to be a wonderful version of the Doctor character, but for the time being there is admittedly just as much of us that is pleased that he gets to live out a longtime dream of his. What Whovian wouldn’t want to be in his shoes? The only ones that we could think of are those who would be worried about the magic somehow being destroyed if they were to see the set in person.
At the moment, perhaps the biggest surprise is strictly that Capaldi is still standing up, given the incredibly exhausting week that he has had promoting the show with co-star Jenna Coleman all over the world.
If you were in Capaldi’s shoes, would you have had the same sort of immediate reaction to getting to see the Tardis for the first time? Let us know, and transport yourself over here to get some further TV scoop on all we cover right now via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
