‘Last Comic Standing’ finale review: Is Nikki Carr, Lachlan Patterson, or Rod Man the winner?
Tonight, the entire season of “Last Comic Standing” boiled down to use a few sets, and then JB Smoove coming on stage and announcing who was the ultimate champion.
However, before we actually got to the big reveal of who the winner was, we had to sit our way through what was ultimately an impossible amount of filler. That’s right; we are talking all about the montages, the other standup performances, the further montages, and other nonsense that we saw in the two hours of this episode. If it wasn’t for the fact that “Big Brother” was just as boring tonight, we would’ve spent the entire 9:00 p.m. Eastern hour sitting over there and watching this show.
Finally, it was at around 10:52 p.m. Eastern where we started to get to what people actually wanted to see: The big decision. Personally, we felt like Rod Man was the funniest consistently this season, but comedy is subjective and with an NBC development deal on the line, maybe they felt like Nikki Carr or Lachlan Patterson was better suited for that. We can see the merits in all three, even if Rod Man feels like the man with the most stories to tell.
The winner was, in the end … Rod Man! Also, it was the right winner for the season, someone who started strong and should have a very unique story to tell on NBC, where there really isn’t anyone quite like him. We just hope that this actually turns into something for him, and is not just some consolation prize like a record deal for “American Idol” winners recently.

I don’t get it – I thought Rodman was eliminated after the first hour? They did a midshow who’s the top two and he was eliminated. WTF?

Rod Man is naturally funny, but is a kind of one-note working class humor type of guy. He lacks the imagination and writing talent of Lachlan. Rod Man may be the Last Comic Standing but he still takes a back seat to Lachlan.

Was very disappointed the worst comic of the three won. I don’t like his delivery at all and hardly laughed when he was on stage.

Totally agree. I thought maybe Rod Man was a top 10 candidate with his unique style and charm but I couldn’t believe he made top 3 and shocked he won it. He just kept saying things twice, repeating himself. The material was not close to what either Lachklan or Carr had.

I don’t think Rod Man was the best comic to win. Nikki Carr or Lachlan Patterson were better. I laughed more at their sets than I did at Rod Man’s. To each his/her own I guess. I’m sure the other two comics will get something out of being on the show and going all the way to the the finals.

I agree Rod Man should of been in the top ten at most. Joe Machi should of made it into top three. Nikki Carr should of won!
