‘The Originals’ season 2 spoilers: The darker side of Phoebe Tonkin’s Hayley
It’s not easy being a werewolf on a show like “The Originals,” but it’s more than likely even harder being a hybrid. This is the situation that Phoebe Tonkin’s character of Hayley finds herself in. It’s an identity crisis, coupled with the sort of depression you would expect when you see your child taken from you (even if the reasoning is sound) while also having something in common with a guy in Klaus who you probably want to have little or nothing in common with.
We’ve reported already that this will take a toll on her emotionally, and it now looks very much like this could also bring out some more unfortunate aspects of her personality … including the aggressive ones. Just take a look at what executive producer Michael Narducci said on this very subject to TVLine:
“Just when this woman found a connection to her werewolf ancestors, she’s now severed from that connection … For a lot of reasons — loss of her child, loss of her family, loss of her identity — she’s really going to be struggling. It’s going to push her to a place where she lashes out at everybody.”
In the end, we do still hope that Hayley finds a way to get herself together before the end of the season, mostly because there are many (especially Elijah) who care for her very much. She is just going to have to find a way to deal with what has happened to her, mostly because it seems unlikely that she’ll pull a Tyler Lockwood and ever get away from who she is now.
