‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5, episode 10 preview: Emily, Spencer debate over Ali
There’s another war between our leading ladies on “Pretty Little Liars,” and this time, the main subject at hand is whether or not they really should be making a stockpile of information to use on Ali in the event things go bad.
This sneak peek below is a perfect microcosm for the different ways that certain characters perceive the character. For Spencer Hastings, Alison is a possible villain in that she’s still hiding information from the Liars, and it constantly feels like they are in a world of half-truths with her. For Emily Fields, the difference here may be that she has a physical, emotional connection to her, and therefore she is inclined to believe in what she says. She perceives her more as wounded than someone who is trying to be devious.
Regardless of what the two believe, the facts are that they have some evidence that they can use against Ali in the event that they ever need to, and for the time being, this evidence is in high demand by Noel Kahn. Spencer told him that she would look out for it for the time being, and that is definitely her intention. With that being said, the larger question we could see many asking here is whether or not Noel is going to be satisfied with that arrangement permanently. The guy already seems a little antsy.

Also in the mind of Emily, she couldn’t save Maya or Alison when Maya died and Alison “died.” Now, she has a chance to protect someone she loves.

I agree more with Spencer, that Alison lies constantly and can’t be trusted. But I empathize with Emily. She is a bit too trusting of Alison (Ali has lied to her over and over) but it’s because she is in love with her. If she admits that Ali could be a villain, it means that she has to confront her own feelings and she will wonder if Ali really meant it when she said the kisses weren’t for practice. They kissed in 5×05 and she wants to believe it meant something because to her it meant the world. It’s clear that Emily still loves her and is blinded by that.
