TV Quick Hits: ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ ‘2 Broke Girls’ scoop; ‘Black Sails’ season 2 teaser

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” casting news – Terrell Owens is heading to the Nine-Nine on this coming season. Fox confirmed that the former NFL wide receiver will be playing himself, and will face off against Terry Crews’ character in some sort of cop vs. fireman football game. Maybe T.O. got himself a job in the local fire department?

Given Terry’s football background, it only makes a little bit of sense that we would see Owens stopping by … especially given his notorious “get your popcorn ready” persona. We can only hope that some of that tremendous attitude translates over to this show very well.

“2 Broke Girls” scoop – Want to know the title for the show’s season 4 premiere? According to Jonathan Kite (Oleg) on Twitter, it is “And the Reality Problem” written by none other than showrunner Michael Patrick King.

Hopefully, season 4 is when the show really starts to deliver more on what we know it’s capable of. Back during season 1 we thought that this was primed to follow “The Big Bang Theory” as the next big CBS hit, but it’s since coasted. It has decent ratings, mind you, but there is a whole lot of room for improvement. Maybe getting into syndication next year could help in that department.

“Black Sails” promo – Finally, we close with the first season 2 promo for “Black Sails,” Starz’s pirate drama that made at least a moderate splash when it aired earlier this year. The network basically renewed the show almost right away due to its lengthy production cycle, and this will be when we start figure out a little more about if there is a show that can stay on the air in the long-term. So many shows on the network, from “Boss” to “Magic City,” tend to end with their second season.
