‘American Idol’ season 14 video: Contestant gets Jennifer Lopez to dance with him
Clearly, one contestant on “American Idol” season 14 is not going to be just satisfied enough with getting a golden ticket to the next round; he’s also going to be looking for a little bit of a dance to go along with it.
In the video below released from the show’s Nashville auditions, you can see an unnamed contestant, upon finishing his seemingly good audition, ask Jennifer Lopez to dance with him. This is something that she is game to do in at least this situation, and this big moment happens while the contestant opts to sing the Sam Smith hit “Stay With Me.” Keith Urban plays a little guitar for the moment, while Harry Connick Jr. goes over to the piano.
Is this moment sweet? We suppose so, but it’s not anywhere near as funny as Harry cradling a guy last year after he delivered a good audition. (That may be one of our favorite auditions ever, even more so than great singers or the “Pants on the Ground” guy.)
The new season of “American Idol” will not be on until January, but we can’t blame the show for trying to get the word out now about it coming back. Hopefully, the lack of an “X Factor” here in America this year will allow for a little less viewer fatigue, and for there to be more people interested in seeing what the show brings to the table after some struggles the past few years.
What do you think about this move by the contestant: Is he taking advantage of a good situation for him, or being a little too desperate for attention?
