‘Longmire’ season 4: Does anyone know of possible renewal?

Typically when it comes to renewals and cancellations, networks like to keep their cards close to the vest. While many internally may know what sort of decisions are being made, they don’t often share these thoughts with the cast and crew. Typically, they find out only briefly before the public does.

Is this true when it comes to “Longmire” and its odds for a season 4 renewal? It certainly looks like it. In a post on Twitter, Bailey Chase (who had an excellent / crazy turn as Branch this past season) made it clear that “nobody knows about next season,” but called the experience “an awesome ride” so far.

If you think back to last year, it was not until fall when we learned about the show being renewed for a third season. While we recently discussed the show’s finale ratings and made our case for a renewal, who knows what factors A&E are looking at right now? There are a number of elements that they have to consider, including the ratings but also the budget and other shows that they potentially have in development. It’s too complicated to discuss within the span of a single article. All we hope is that we find out the show’s fate without some significant amount of rating. There is an active following for the show, and it certainly seems like the cast enjoys making it.

If there is a “Longmire” season 4, you can probably expect it to fill up the same span of time in the summer of next year. It’s a great spot for it given that you don’t have to worry nearly as much about major network shows, and in the early / mid-summer there is not that much competition.
