‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Steven Moffat talks further on Peter Jackson possibilities
If you read the internet often and are very familiar with “Doctor Who,” then we imagine that you are very familiar already with the fact that Peter Jackson has long discussed potentially directing an episode of the show. He’s an enormous fan of the series, and he’s long wanted the opportunity. Unfortunately, the main thing standing in his way is the mere fact that he, as you would expect, is a very busy man.
As a part of the new cover story for the show in Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Steven Moffat detailed how he is always open to have the Oscar-winner on board the show … but there are still many hurdles that are every step of the way:
“If he’s up for it, we’ll do it … But he’s very hard to get hold of at times. He did show up and do a bit for the Five-Ish Doctors, for Peter [Davison]. He is a fan. He does love it. He always seems to be terribly busy doing the Hobbit. I know he’s insanely busy. He does want to direct the next Tintin [a sequel to 2011’s Moffat-co-penned The Adventures of Tintin] and is struggling to schedule around his difficult life. It’s just difficult to get these guys tied down—but he is a genuinely big Doctor Who fan.”
At some point, we do feel like this is going to happen, but it’s not necessarily something to be in a tremendous hurry about. We’ll most-likely get a great chance to see this through after “The Hobbit” is completely over, and we finally start to see Jackson move on to future projects.
What do you think: Would you be disappointed at this point if there is not an episode of the show directed by Jackson?
