‘The Bachelor’: Chris Soules supported by fellow Andi Dorfman alum for role
Here is a common theme that we seem to be running into right now when it comes to “The Bachelor“: Contestants supporting other contestants who are in the running for the role.
Earlier this weekend, we talked about how Sean Lowe allowed Arie Luyendyk Jr. to write a guest post on his faith-based blog to discuss his spiritual journey and also why he wants to be the leading man on the upcoming season. Now, we’ve got a Twitter campaign waging to ensure that Chris Soules ends up getting the role. There are already plenty of fans out there doing it, and now fellow Andi Dorfman alum (and upcoming “Bachelor in Paradise” contestant) Marcus Grodd has tweeted that there is “no better man that I know who deserves to find love.”
We will at least give Chris credit for being reasonably self-aware with the whole “#farmerneedsawife” hashtag that he is starting, which is a subtle difference from that old cheesy CW show “Farmer Wants a Wife” that aired years ago. In Chris’ version, his is a little more about necessity.
The interesting thing about Chris right now is that we certainly do not doubt that he would be extremely genuine in his search to find love, and that he could eventually meet someone who stays with him the rest of his life. The only thing we really wonder about is if his season would pop in the way that it needs to. There’s also ratings considerations to think about, given that he was a part of a season that was one of the lowest-rated in the history of the franchise.
What do you think: Should Chris be the runaway favorite for “The Bachelor”? Share your thoughts with a comment, and head over here to get some further TV updates on all we cover now!

ABC is not a lonely hearts club charity. They are a business and they need good ratings. Chris is nice, and is ready to find love, but he will not be a dynamic lead. Viewers want to watch a compelling, romantic lead. The producers should choose Arie. We know that Arie is ready for love and can fall in love within this format. We watched him fall head over heels for Emily! I’d love to watch him have his own season.

exactly – they are int he business of making money and Chris, as nice as he is, will have a season like Desiree: Boring.

I want Marquel to be the Bachelor. However, I think Chris is going to get it. Also, to answer the ratings issue, I think that the low rating had to with Andi and her treatment of someof the guys, including Chris. Chris might get some of the highest ratings because of his sincerity and family. Chris Soules, like Sean Lowe comes across a gentlemen. Yes, Chris comes across as a bit vanilla. But, hey vanilla but he is sweet and he deserves to find a wife.

Chris probably will get it but at the same time Arie seems to be getting some big supporters from the bachelor community. with andi’s low ratings they need to do something to shake up next season and as nice as chris seems to be, nice doesn’t always sell. Arie already has an established fanbase and he’s a little bit of a bad boy. might make for a more interesting show?
