‘The Mentalist’ season 7 spoilers: Production begins for Simon Baker, cast
If you’re a fan of “The Mentalist,” we certainly feel your pain when it comes to the lack of news and updates on the show right now. No one knows when the final season is going to premiere, at least other than the fact that it is not going to happen until at least midseason.
However, we can at least tell you this: Production is underway for Simon Baker and the cast! Filming started this past week, and will continue more than likely for at least the rest of this year. Thanks to a shorter 13-episode order, everyone will likely have more time off than they have since starting the show so many years ago.
As for what the story will revolve around, we’re sure that Patrick Jane’s personal life will suddenly become more of a focus after so much was put into his relationship with Lisbon. We’ll learn how they work as a couple, and also whether or not there is anything personally that ends up complicating their dynamic on the job. Of course, we’re sure that there is also going to be at least some sort of Big Bad-like character, even if it is not another Red John.
What the show will also be potentially feeling this season is a sense of closure. While it has not been confirmed necessarily that season 7 will be the last, the delay for a renewal this past spring, coupled with the current ratings in the 18-49 demographic, make that a likely possibility. The show may opt to come up with what will be a worthy ending for the show in the case that this is it, while also leaving a tiny crack open if there is another season at some point.

I think that this will be the last season of The Mentalist unfortunately. However, during the scare last season when we were not sure if we were going to get picked up for another season, several other networks were interested in picking up The Mentalist for more seasons. For example, TNT was interested as they already have a syndication deal with Warner Bros. So that is one thing to look at for a season 8. But also, you have to consider the ratings, ratings are really important because the way networks make money is by the commercials that are on during the show and if the ratings are bad then advertisers will not pay as much money to advertise during the show therefore, the network loses money. Also, the creator of The Mentalist, Bruno Heller is leaving the show to work on his new show, Gotham. Which, is not a good sign for The Mentalist. You also have to consider that maybe some of the actors want to move on from the show and work on other projects. Another thing the show has to worry about are the actors. If the show is not making as much money then the actors will not make as much money and that can be an eventual problem. Right now, Simon Baker is signed on for one more season but after season 7, he is no longer obligated to be part of the show and if there are going to be more seasons, he would have to sign another contract and he could be wanting more money. Now obviously, shows don’t last forever, but it would be nice to get in a couple more seasons. But it all just comes down to technicalities and how bad people want the show to stick around.

I think it will probably be the last season, I mean wasn’t said that Simon’s as well as the rest of the casts contracts were up at the end of the season?
It would be intresting to see if they would do another finale that could serve as a series finale or season finale, if it”s possible that there could be another season.

There’s alot of chatter on different sites that there will be a love triangle between Lisbon, Jane and this new FBI agent. I certainly hope they don’t go down that route, it would just be too high school. You don’t spend this much time getting them together and then go for “cheap drama”. If they continue the same way Season 6 ended, I’ll definitely be tuning in.

I think people are just thinking that since the new agent is a female. I mean they would be stupid to have droped the Fischer – Jane love triangle for a Lisbon-Pike-Jane love triangle just to do something similar the next season. Though I could be wrong.
I like you hope that there won’t be another love triangle, those are just stupid and should only be used on Soap Operas and teen shows.

The mentalist will be adding another charector to the cast, called Michelle Vega. Now according to online sources, this new charector will be a big part of janes personal life but not in a romaatic way or a way that will intervene jane and lisbon’s realtionship. So i don’t think we have anything to worry about.

Please don’t make this the final season. I think the reason viewers dropped off last season was because the beginning of the season wasn’t a very Jane type Mentalist show and they may not have come back. I wasn’t very happy with the first few but I kept watching and then they started getting back to doing things Jane’s way and that made it the way it should be. Him and Lisbon make the show. I’m missing the old crew, I’m really glad Cho is still there. It’s a great show and I just love it.
