Ratings: ‘The Quest’ premiere numbers (sadly) disappoint
Right now, Lisa Berger is probably not having a great week as the new reality chief over at ABC. Two of the idea that she’s brought on the air this summer are “Rising Star” and “The Quest,” and both ratings-wise are starting to make the shelved “Whodunnit?” like like “Survivor” in the numbers.
You’ve already seen the show decline of “Rising Star,” with the real problem there being simply that the show doesn’t have any talent that’s worth sitting down to watch every week. As for “The Quest,” it’s actually a great idea and a very entertaining show. It’s just probably not one that appeals to mainstream viewers so much as it does to us geeks.
the premiere for the show drew only a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which may be working further to convince us that this 8:00 p.m. timeslot for the network is cursed. Just ask “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,” “Black Box,” “Charlie’s Angels,” or the dozen or so other shows that have tried to be in this spot in the past several years. (Good luck with this, “Grey’s Anatomy.”)
Do we still have hope for “The Quest”? Maybe, but it’s going to take a lot of work. You’re going to have to hope that word of mouth spreads, and that viewers can catch the show online and realize that it’s something worth watching live. Our biggest fear if the numbers decline like they typically do for shows following their premiere is that it gets pulled before it even finishes its run … it’s either that or it gets put in some miserable spot like Saturdays.

It might finish its run because it is a summer show. I agree that Rising Star is a bad show. Plus, I think that the television market is saturated with music competition shows. The Quest is a is good show. But, it appears that only one set of nerds will rule the television landscape for now. Bazinga.
