‘American Idol’ tour: Dexter Roberts finally reveals reason for departure
What was with the mysterious departure of Dexter Roberts from the “American Idol” tour? We know that there were many asking this question for quite some time, and thanks to that, speculation was all over the place. Some had speculated that he wanted to do more gigs closer to his Alabama home, while others merely stated that he may just have been disappointed by the lack of a live band.
As it turns out, the real explanation here is the one that had been floating around from the very beginning: Illness. In a post on Facebook, the country singer finally explained that he had contracted an illness from a turkey hunt that he went on not long after the show, and he did not know the official diagnosis for it until recently:
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my fans, friends and family for all their prayers, patience and support through my illness. After months of hospital and doctor visits, I finally have a diagnosis. I have Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick Fever, with symptoms of fever, rash, headache, abdominal issues, shortness of breath and muscle pain.”
We can imagine that the past few weeks must have been pretty frustrating for Dexter, mostly because there are few things worse than knowing that there is something wrong, but not entirely knowing what that something is. Now, though, he can actually prepare for more of a full recovery.
So what about the next season for “American Idol“? We know that there was recently an open call in Nashville, and the show’s bus has been topping at other smaller venues across America trying to find some sort of talent. Hopefully, we’ll have a crop that not only impresses, but also brings in ratings.
