NBC’s ‘The Voice’ alum Christina Grimmie releases ‘Must Be Love’ lyric video
This summer, it’s not exactly an easy time for alumni of “The Voice” to be working on new music. They’ve spent a ton of time touring around the country, so they have had to try to balance out getting together some new music with also performing elsewhere at the same time.
Christina Grimmie is at least one person who has managed to balance this out now with her new single “Must Be Love,” which you can hear for the first time below. It’s an upbeat song with a driving beat behind it, and the sound of it may be something a little different than what you imagined going into it. It is nice to see a singing-show contestant try to go with something different rather than the standard ballad straight out of the gate. It’s a way to try to stay current.
After all, it is becoming more and more challenging these days to be a successful artist in the industry in the time following up a show. We’d say that Phillip Phillip from “American Idol” is really the last person since Adam Lambert to really catapult into celebrity thanks to the show … and that is one one person in the past five seasons of the show, and you can also attribute much of that the Olympics picking up his song “Home” and playing it often. Grimmie has an opportunity to still be the first legitimate pop star from “The Voice.” While Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbery have made at least a little traction in the country world, we wouldn’t say that either of them have become breakout stars on a national stage.
What do you think about Grimmie’s new song, at least based on what we’ve heard from it so far? Let us know below, and head over here for some more news worth singing about via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
