‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4 video: Anson Mount on embracing the Western
In just two days now, the long wait for “Hell on Wheels” fans will finally be over! The new season will have officially premiered over on AMC, and we’ll be able to sit here and write about some actual events for a change rather than just speculate over what could end up happening.
The purpose of this article is not to post a heap of spoilers, though. Instead, we are sharing the latest video released by AMC featuring star Anson Mount, with the subject of conversation being the Western genre. This is something that he understands is important to the foundation of the show, and he also wants to ensure that this stays a part of everything he does. Sometimes, this means going in extra mile in an attempt to simplify things, whether this means making a few facial expressions instead of dialogue, or giving the show a lot of open space to work with.
We do appreciate that these are things that Mount and the cast continue to think about, largely because there are so few other programs out there right now within this genre. It’s difficult (next to impossible, even) to really have a lot of successful Westerns in this modern era. Many young people didn’t grow up watching them as the children of the 1960s and 70s may have, and the old west is something that is more and more now just a product of history books. Just have a tiny handful of TV Westerns is something to be grateful about.
